Jim Gilmore, M.B.A.

Jim Gilmore, MBA, is presently a senior administrator for Behavioral Health Services Inc. (BHS), in Los Angeles. He has worked in the behavioral health field for over 30 years. His accumulated knowledge in the field, both personal and professional has been the basis for his ongoing interest in improving the quality of treatment for those suffering the trauma and stigma of substance abuse and mental illness. He also serves as a community advisor to several community organizations and coalitions including; Represents BHS as a member of the Coalition to End Homelessness in LA Skid row; Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health Staff Development and Training Committee, a group which among other activities puts on the annual Co-occurring Disorders Conference; a peer evaluator of treatment services for both Texas and California; Co-Chair of the Community Partners in Care (CPIC) Steering Committee, UCLA/RAND Clinical Scholars Program; member of the Steering Committee of the Community Partner Group, Healthcare for Communities. He recently retired as the Chairperson for the Los Angeles County Task Force on Substance Abuse and Mental Illness (LA SAMI). In addition he is a member of the advisory group which developed the curriculum for the Cal State Los Angeles Alcohol/Drug Counselor Certification Program and was a member of the faculty at Cal State LA. He has been active in bringing research into community based programs and has participated in a number of projects.
